Shop Girl Consignment is permanently closed.
Sunday, January 28th, 2024 was our last day of business.
This has been an amazing journey of fabulous fashion, incredible consignments, styling sessions and prom dresses and wedding dresses and job interview outfits, lives in transformation and transition, community connections, trials and success and trials and failure, masks and vaccines and hand sanitizers and federal money, Black Lives Matter and allyship and Free Mom Hugs and Women’s History and Marches, fur coats and cashmere sweaters and drop dead gorgeous humans, inside and out. And then inflation and interest rates and Shein and Temu and Amazon and then Macy’s and Nordstrom and Walgreens and Nike and now Shop Girl Consignment… This stream of consciousness list is what’s pouring out of me as I reflect on the last five and a half years of getting to be the owner of such a wonderful small business, the woman who got to live her lifelong dream, the shop girl whose heart has grown three sizes because of my blessed connection with each of you. I am the lucky boss lady of an unshakeable, unbelievably awesome team: Jen Braun, manager; Diane Jones, Seth Avila, Rachel O’Brien, and Annie Hutchinson, associates; and Christina Morris and her job coach, Sam Cohen, masters of the clearance racks. There is no false humility, no cliche, and no exaggeration when I say each one of these people made me - and the shop - a bajillion times better. We got to feature local artists and artisans whom you supported with your generosity. All of our consigned items came from our local community and wow, did you ever bring us the most beautiful garments and accessories! Visitors were consistently amazed by the quality of the items we carried, and that, my friends, is all because of you. And most importantly, you let us into your lives, your hearts, your stories, your connections, your losses and celebrations. In imagining owning a consignment shop, I never, ever knew it could be so deeply rich in connections and relationships. I love the fashion and I love the mission of resale, but there is no question that it is these connections and relationships with you that made this journey so meaningful. You may have seen this coming, this end of Shop Girl Consignment. Retail has been down everywhere since before Covid and was made worse in the last couple of years by the other economic challenges we’ve all faced. I’ve hinted at the struggles in our social media and emails, and you have done so much to support us. And even though we’re closing, it’s okay. I’m okay. My team is okay - my team is great, actually. They are taking this with grace, dignity, and so much love. I am forever grateful that I got to live my dream and that it exceeded all I could have hoped for. |
Now, down to business.

Consignment for all womxn in the Portland metro area
Shop Girl Consignment is a fun, funky, fabulous size-inclusive resale boutique with two locations, downtown Gresham and downtown Sandy, OR. We carry high quality consigned women's clothing and accessories for anyone who wants to wear them, and we have beautiful items for every body at every budget.
Why consignment?
~ When you shop secondhand, the demand for new clothing production goes down, reducing carbon emissions, and energy and water consumption. (Check out this great article) Not-so-fun fact, the fashion industry causes more environmental harm than all gas vehicles in the world combined!
~ Shopping with a local consignment store creates a very tight local economy: the consignor brings in items, the shop sells them, the customer buys them, and the consignor receives a percentage of the sale. All within a 5-7 mile radius!
~ You can get high quality items for a much lower price! We sell name-brand and designer garments, handbags, and shoes that will last much longer than the same-priced items through fast-fashion and low quality retailers online and in stores. Plus, you can try them on before you buy to make sure they're really right for you!
We welcome everyone regardless of age, culture, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity or expression, disability, nationality, race, religion, and sexual orientation.
You are welcome; you are seen; you are beautiful right now. We can't wait to meet you!
